Pre-Conference Masterclass: Cybersecurity Foundations for ICT Professionals: Designing with Security in Mind
Approved 1

Member Price: $370

Non-Member Price: $550

Cybersecurity is no longer a “nice to have” in ICT projects—it’s something every designer and engineer needs to think about from the start. This masterclass is built for ICT professionals who may not be security specialists but still need to understand how cybersecurity affects their work. The session takes the big, sometimes intimidating topic of cybersecurity and breaks it down into concepts and practices that make sense in the context of structured cabling, design, and day-to-day ICT projects. Attendees begin with the basics—what cybersecurity really means and where it shows up in ICT environments. From there, we look at the points where ICT and security overlap: network design, operational technologies, physical security, and the human side of risk. Just as important, we talk about what it’s like to work with a cybersecurity professional, how to communicate across disciplines, and how small design decisions can make a big difference for resilience. The class isn’t only lecture. Through practical examples and workshop exercises, participants work through scenarios that highlight when and how cybersecurity matters in real projects. Rather than walking away overwhelmed, the idea is for attendees to leave with clarity and confidence—knowing where security fits in their work and how to approach it. To help beyond the classroom, each participant receives a set of recommendation available on the market: books, literature, standards, and best practices that can support their projects long after the conference is over. By the end of the session, attendees will have a stronger foundation in cybersecurity, a better sense of when to bring security into the conversation, and practical resources they can research by themselves and use them right away. This course is well suited for ICT designers, project managers, consultants, and engineers who want to add a layer of security awareness to their professional toolkit.
